COUNTRY WALK MAPPING
Due to Ordnance Survey copyright restrictions and high licence fees, I am no longer able to display maps for walks. However, each walk description clearly describes the route and should be easy to follow. I recommend that you also take the relevant O.S. Explorer or Outdoor Leisure map, details of what sheet is required is detailed in the information section of each walk. Some walks in the Railways series do have links to maps on the One Railways website, where no map is available I have provided a link to the relevant Streetmap.co.uk O.S. map.
This is a new venture, delivering Illustrated talks with sound effects and presenter's dialogue suitable for local clubs and societies etc. Each presentation is approximately 1 hour in duration and is digitally projected onto a screen with Microsoft PowerPoint. Sound is reproduced through a detached amplifier.
You will find details of my latest book 'RAF Plumber' and the previous book I produced, Suffolk Town Trails that I self published. Also my Suffolk Country Walks Books 1, 2, 3 and 4, produced for the Ipswich Evening Star. There is details of my book Best Tea Shop Walks in Suffolk, published nationally by Sigma Leisure. Unfortunately Suffolk Country Walks Book 1 and Best Tea Shop Walks in Suffolk are no longer available. (Order Form for available books).
My most recent book of walks was Suffolk Town Trails and provides details of a walk in every town of Suffolk. It is available from from most local book shops or can be obtained at a discount rate by mail directly from me. (Reduced to clear now £1 per copy)
(Order Form)
This is a series of walks I am undertaking for the EADT Suffolk magazine. Each month I visit an interesting location in the county for a walk off the beaten track. Maps are published in the magazine if you can find the relevant back copy, but in any case the descriptions should be clear enough to follow with the aid of the appropriate O.S. map.
In July 2001 I started producing walks from railway stations for Anglia Railways (now One Anglia) for publication on their website. This page gives access to the stations where walk routes have been published so far. Many of the walks on the One Railways website have maps and links are provided for these. Where the is no map available , please refer to the relevant O.S. sheet.
This is a general page of about walking in Suffolk, Public Rights of Way, the so called Right to Roam and Healthy Walking information.
If you need any further advice, please send me feedback or an e-mail, I would be glad to hear from you.
There is also a link to the Country Code which I think should be used by everyone in
the countryside.
I post a new picture of Suffolk here every week, these are some of the many pictures I have taken
on my walks and I would like to share them with you.
These links are mainly to sites describing other walks in Suffolk or general information about
rights of way and walking. If you have any good sites for me to add, please send the details.
I have also listed some other interesting and useful links which are added whenever I find them.
I joined the Royal Air Force as an Apprentice in 1953 and served for 30 years as an armourer. This is a photo record of my time at RAF Halton. I have just written a book about my 30 years in the RAF entitled 'RAF Plumber' published by Woodfield Publishing Ltd that can also be ordered directly from me by mail.
GENERAL INFORMATION
So there you have it, I am still learning how to use the HTML language and am constantly trying to find
innovative new ways of publishing the walks. I trust your browsers will give you a reasonable
display, I have written the whole thing on Windows XP Notepad without the aid of web authoring
software. My Computer is a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop, 70gb hard disk and 2 Gb RAM. I also have an Inspiron 1150 for backup. The laptops are network connected via wireless cards through a BT Voyager 2100 ADSL router and broadband Internet connection. My Epson RX700 All-in-One printer and Brother 2030 laser printer are connected to the network through a Netgear WGPS606 Wireless USB Print Server. I use Internet Explorer 7.0, PaintshopPro V.7 software and load all the html pages to the BT server via WS_FTP95LE. I use a Fujifilm Finepix S7000 camera with a 256mb xD-Picture Card.
Best wishes and happy viewing, please contact me via e-mail to (graphic) with
any comments etc.
